Gold Films LTD

Gold Films LTD would like Matt Sanders to design us a border for our forthcoming Feature Film Investors Pack.

Gold Films LTD is a London based production company that specializes in 3D technology for cinemas. Our pedigree has been established through providing bespoke 3D advertising solutions for high profile clients. We as a company work closely with both client and cinema to tailor the brief to both parties needs. Clients include Nestle, Rowntrees and Cineworld Cinemas.

Gold Films LTD is currently expanding its portfolio to include feature film production, and we are currently seeking funding for our first 3D feature film. Our potential investors have been sourced and are awaiting all information about the film and their potential financial gain. We want to provide them with a pack that is both informative and appealing to the eye.

We would like the border for every page to be relevant to the subject matter of the film. The film is a sci-fi action thriller about an eclipse so we feel that should be included in the design.

The Design – A4. Black background.

Top left hand corner of page: Moon with craters, pure white with a yellow glowing ring around it. (the moon covering the sun) Roughly about 4cm diameter.

Bottom of page: Backs of people floating, shoulder to shoulder across whole bottom of page. Limp, arms down by side. Men, women and children of all different shapes and sizes. Largest person should be about 3cm long. Feet 1.5cm from bottom of page. They should be grey in colour, quite spooky to look at. About 10-12 people in total.

All over page: Little yellow stars, so the page looks like a sky. Not too many, just enough to establish this.

We would require this by Wednesday 24^th February 2010.

She gave me some great feedback which really left me with something to go home with and to really have a think about.

The image below appears in my portfolio as it is here and Anna said although it is a strong illustration, it seems lost on its own and maybe work on a set of illustrations to go alongside it with continuity throughout.

The image above is something I am working on to go alongside the 1st image. I will probably do about five or six illustrations to complete the set.

I agree with the fact that the images need some support around them and thats why I am trying to respond to her feedback in a constructive way.

Freelance illustrator Anna Steinburg came in to give us a presentation on how to set up and work as professional freelance illustrator and also to have a look through our portfolio's to give advice and guidance as to what clients will be looking for.

I really enjoyed the presentation, it made freelance work seem attainable which was so refreshing in a world full of recession and pessimism.

Here is the final poster in print ready form. The clients loved it which I was very pleased with and hopefully I can get more work with them.

If I had more time I would have had another stab at the typography which in my opinion is not as strong as I could have made it. I suppose if the client is happy with it, it has answered the brief and the job is done. but I will always strive to better what I've done, which I guess I could do by producing more posters for them, in turn getting better as I sharpen my skills.

It has been sent to the printers. great!

Focusing on the craft side of stitch, I came up with this background as a starting point. I am pleased with it, I think it captures the main reason behind the club night so that definitely works as a background.

I sent these two roughs through to see what the girls at stitch thought of my preliminary ideas.

They really liked the style but were not so sure about the two characters. they wanted it to be more raw and maybe not as close up.

I had a meeting with them and we brainstormed a few ideas that could work and that they were happy with and I took it all on board ready to create the poster.

Following on from the Christmas poster I produced for the club night Stitch, they have asked me to illustrate and design their residency poster!

This is a great opportunity for people to see my work as the club night is in Sixty Million Postcards which is an already well established club/bar in Bournemouth and could really help to get some publicity and interest in my work.

I was really pleased to be asked to do this again for them as it means the first poster was a success and building a strong relationship with a client can open other opportunities up (like this one) in the future.

Here is some contact i received to kick off the start of the designs. They left it very open ended for me which is great because they want me for my way of working so I can really get stuck in and enjoy producing it.
